Google is introducing a Mobile-Ready, new feature, called “Purchases on Google” for shoppers to buy products directly from mobile search ads.
By tapping on a button which is included in the mobile search ads, shoppers will be able to buy the advertised product. This means you will see a “buy” button in the promoted mobile search results, directing you to a page where you can buy the advertised product.
The “buy” button unveiled is part of Google’s attempt to make it easier for people to shop on their mobile devices and divert traffic from online sellers like Amazon, eBay & etc.
The feature, called “Purchases on Google”, completes sales using financial information that already has been stored with Google. This will reduce the friction in mobile purchases without interfering in the relationship between merchants and consumers. The purchase page will carry the merchant’s branding, and will search for other products if the shoppers couldn’t find the exact products they are looking for.
Initially, Google is testing this feature with about dozen retailers and is having plans to increase the retailers before the end of this year. At a press event in New York City, Google said that it has plans to then make this more broadly available to advertisers in the United States, and “much more scale” throughout the United States by late 2015 or early 2016.
